"Give New Life to an Old Barn – Forest Immersion and Community Tourism Embraced by Nature!"

In 2014, we bought a small house in the northeastern corner of Hungary. During the week, we live and work in Budapest, but we always look forward to escaping the hustle and bustle of the city on weekends, recharging in the rural village, surrounded by the power of nature. This village is rich in local history, has a passionate community and is embraced by beautiful, untouched forests, with countless mountain hiking trails yet to be discovered by tourists.

We’ve been working in the private sector for more than 20 years. Over this time, we've faced our fair share of challenges in our careers, family dynamics, and health... The greatest healing has always come from nature. We spend a lot of time outdoors and have noticed that when sitting on the ground, listening to the birds and being near ancient trees, everything somehow feels much easier. Stress melts away... We feel that others should experience this too.

We want to renovate an old barn (80m²) to create a unique community centre. We would organize Forest Immersion programs where visitors could escape the noise of everyday life and recharge with the power of nature. This isn’t just about renovating a building; it’s also an opportunity for the people living in the village. It is our goal to bring local residents into this project. Our programs will provide work, livelihood, and hope for those who need it most.

Drops of Love – December 2023

On December 23, 2023, for the "Soul Warmer" event held in our community, I created the following short film titled "Drops of Love," with the involvement of the people living in the village:

We usually organize the Soul Warmer event on the weekend before Christmas. During this time, the whole village gathers... we make mulled wine, the women bake pastries, we set up campfire and we are together... it always has an incredibly cozy atmosphere... the community is united and we collectively tune in to the holiday spirit.

Community Street Dinner – July 2018

In 2018, we organized a community dinner in a small parking plot, Anyone passing by the road could join the dinner.

December, 2017

In December 2017, we created the following short movie with the involvement of some elderly women for the "Soul Warmer" event, which takes place just before Christmas in the village. In the film, we cook together with the elderly women, who share stories about traditions and how to prepare the traditional Christmas dish of Füzer, called bobájka.
