Description
My name is Stefano, and today I am asking for help for someone who means the world to me: Teo, my 14-year-old Hungarian Vizsla.
Teo is not just a dog. He is my family, my companion, my friend, and a very important part of my life.
Together with Vackor and Nala, my other two dogs, Teo has brought me more love, happiness, and unforgettable moments than I could ever put into words.
Anyone who has shared their life with a dog knows that special feeling. They never ask for anything in return. They are simply there for us, every single day, offering their unconditional love.
And when they need us, we have to be there for them.
The day our lives changedUntil a few months ago, Teo was enjoying his life, his walks, nature, and all the little things he has always loved.
Then, suddenly, everything changed.
Teo began losing strength and control of his hind legs. After neurological examinations and an MRI scan, the veterinarians discovered three serious herniated discs severely compressing his spinal cord.
Without urgent surgery, Teo was at risk of irreversible neurological damage and permanently losing his ability to walk.
On August 19, 2026, he underwent a complex spinal operation.
It was a difficult and frightening moment. Teo was already 14 years old, and I knew how demanding such an operation could be for him.
But giving up on him was never an option.
Teo is a fighter. And he is not giving up.After surgery, Teo was unable to walk on his hind legs.
Seeing him like that was heartbreaking.
A dog who had spent his life running, exploring, and enjoying his freedom suddenly needed help with almost everything.
But Teo has something extraordinary: an incredible determination to keep fighting.
Little by little, he has started making progress.
He has regained sensation in his hind legs. He tries to support his own weight, responds to stimulation, and can now stand for short periods with assistance.
These may seem like small achievements to others.
To me, every little improvement means the world.
Today, Teo still cannot walk independently. He needs a special wheelchair to enjoy his walks and continues to depend on our help and rehabilitation.
But I see his determination every day. And as long as he keeps fighting, I want to give him every reasonable opportunity to recover.
Why I am asking for your helpOver the past months, I have done everything financially possible to provide Teo with the veterinary care, surgery, medication, equipment, and rehabilitation he needs.
I have already spent a very substantial amount of money.
And I do not regret a single euro.
I would much rather give up things in my own life than see Teo go without the medical care he deserves.
But after almost four months of examinations, treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation, I have reached the point where I simply cannot continue financing everything on my own.
And admitting that is not easy for me.
Teo's veterinarians and rehabilitation specialists believe he will walk again. However, because of his age, his recovery is taking longer, and they expect he will need another four to six months of treatment and rehabilitation.
His care involves veterinary examinations, physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises, and specialised treatments, including underwater treadmill therapy when we can afford it.
His medication is also a significant and ongoing expense. Alongside the costs of rehabilitation sessions, veterinary consultations, and specialised care, these medicines are essential to his treatment plan and add considerably to the financial burden.
The estimated overall cost is approximately 500,000–600,000 Hungarian forints per month, and a single rehabilitation session costs around 25,000 forints.
I have therefore decided to ask for help, with a fundraising goal of €7,900 to contribute towards Teo's continuing treatment, medication, and rehabilitation over the coming months.
A chance to walk againTeo's veterinarians and physiotherapists have told me they believe he will walk again.
They have explained that, at 14 years old, his body simply needs more time to recover from such a major operation.
It will take patience, consistent treatment, specialised rehabilitation, and a great deal of determination.
And determination is something Teo has never lacked.
Every small improvement brings him one step closer to the day I dream of seeing him standing and walking on his own again.
What breaks my heart is the thought that, after everything he has endured and all the progress he has made, his rehabilitation could be interrupted simply because I can no longer afford the treatments and medication he needs.
Teo has not given up on himself. I do not want to give up on him.
If you can contribute, even a small donation would mean so much to us.
And if you cannot donate, simply sharing Teo's story could help us reach someone who can.
I will share updates on his recovery, his treatments, and how the donations are being used.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, for caring, and for giving Teo a chance to continue his journey.
With gratitude,
Stefano & Teo ❤️🐾
