Apartment fire in Żory. My family lost almost all of their belongings, these tragic events took place on the afternoon of October 25. The fire that broke out in our family's apartment almost completely destroyed our belongings, my wife, son and our dog. Fortunately, when the fire broke out, my wife and dog managed to escape from the apartment, and my son was at school, which helped avoid casualties. When I was returning home from the store, my neighbor told me that there was a fire at my place. I ran to the staircase and started knocking on the neighbors from the ground floor to the 2nd floor, calling for help. The neighbors took buckets and bowls. I didn't think about what was waiting for me behind the door. I opened it, nothing could be seen. The entire hallway was in black smoke. With the help of the neighbors, I started putting out the kitchen, where the fire was visible. I managed to get it under control and fortunately nothing exploded, thanks to the neighbors and those who brought water. The firefighters arrived on the scene immediately after, cut off the gas and electricity. They opened the windows and started putting out the fire, and securing everything that was left. Once again, I would like to thank the neighbors, those who helped put out the fire and those who notified the neighbors from the upper floors to go outside the building, and of course the firefighters from the State Fire Service in Żory. However, the fire consumed all the equipment in the apartment: furniture, household appliances, clothes and other everyday items. Almost all rooms were destroyed, including the kitchen and hallway, 2 living rooms and the bathroom. In addition, five pairs of doors and a window in the kitchen were damaged (cracked glass and melted and bent by the fire). During the fire extinguishing operation, the walls and floors were flooded. The electrical and water installations were seriously damaged. One of the balcony windows is suitable for replacement. The apartment requires a general renovation. It is necessary to start with a very expensive, professional cleaning of the entire apartment from soot and ashes by an external company. We ask Adam, my wife Sylwia, son Jakub and dog Moris for financial support, emphasizing that every payment is of great importance. The money will be used to professionally clean the apartment from soot and ash, and then for new electricity, water and gas installations for a comprehensive renovation. The cost of restoring the apartment to use is estimated at PLN 120,000 - 150,000. Please help us get back to normal, we are asking you for every zloty.
