This time, I cannot do it alone 🥲
Description
Hi, my name is Gábor. I am 35 years old and a father of three young boys. I am reaching out to you because my life has taken a turn that no one can prepare for, and for the first time in my life, I have to ask for help.
The struggle I’ve faced
I have worked hard for as long as I can remember. At the age of 12, I was diagnosed with Perthes disease. I spent two years in a sanatorium, but despite the treatments, my left leg remained shorter, leaving me to live with constant chronic pain. When I lost my father at 16, I didn't hesitate: I started working as an electrician at 17 to support myself. I have always stood on my own two feet—until now.
The turning point
Recently, I suffered a sudden stroke. A blood vessel burst in my brain, leaving the entire left side of my body paralyzed. My world collapsed. As someone who had always relied on physical labor, I suddenly found myself unable to move. But thinking of my children gave me strength. Through sheer willpower and intensive physical therapy, I have fought my way back to being able to walk with crutches.
The current crisis
Unfortunately, bad news rarely comes alone. Despite working my entire life, due to an administrative error by a former employer (a delay in filing my disability insurance), I am currently ineligible for a disability pension. I will not be eligible for another three years. Currently, my only source of income is a social hardship grant of just €181 per month.
Providing for three children, paying bills, and funding my ongoing recovery with this amount is an impossible task. It breaks my heart that I cannot provide for them physically or financially as I once did.
How you can help
I am not asking for luxury; I am asking for survival and security for my boys:
Food and basic necessities for my three sons.
Medication and continued rehabilitation so that one day I might work again.
Utility bills to ensure we don't lose our home.
Any small donation is a massive help to us right now. If you are unable to support us financially, a share of this post would also mean the world to us, as it helps my story reach more people.
Thank you for reading my story and for standing by us in our time of need.
