I am a 39-year-old single mother with 2 children aged 10 and 13. After my youngest's illness, father and I divorced. I had my life with the children just fine. No financial problems and the three of us were happy together.

2 years back I ( I thought she met the love of my life) he was someone with a big backpack of problems in the past including psychological but he had changed he said and I wanted to give him a fair chance because everyone deserves a second chance. We moved in together quite quickly because he had no home. He was on benefits and receivership I had a job. Because of his psychological problems, he did try to work (black) but every time he screwed up so no money came in. He got 50 euros living allowance a week and the rest of the costs were paid by me. When I was on my own, I had saved some money, not much but enough to make sure the children didn't lack anything.

When we had been together for a couple of months, sir started drinking more and more and even using drugs again. He was in rehab before I knew him. Slowly, all my savings went through. Groceries and bills had become considerably more expensive since Corona but his coke use was also increasing. When it started working out before he was asleep or when I said there was no more money it escalated into domestic violence which unfortunately my children witnessed several times. The police have been there several times to pick him up for aggravated assault. He still has to appear in court for this as well. He threatened to do something to me if I did not book the bills back.

And how stupid I was to do that. I loved him but was also afraid of him. And my children loved him too but were scared at times too. I tried to keep everyone happy and make sure things stayed calm in the house. Unfortunately, I regularly failed to do that. There was a contact and location ban out of safety for me and the children which he regularly violated. He is now being sought by the police for violating the restraining order when he smashed my window.

Now it is just that I have rent arrears and arrears with the power company. I am self-employed and I can pay the monthly bills well only I do not earn enough to meet the payment schedule proposed by the bailiff. I can go into debt counselling then someone else will manage my money and pay off the debts and we will get living money. But since I have always been able to take good care of us, that is the last thing I want. I am already in talks with my employer to start working more hours so that there is more income.

I hope there are people who want to help me and the children so we don't have to go into debt assistance. And I can start building a life again together with my children. All three of us are traumatised by everything that has happened. And we don't want to lose our house because of this as well. This is the house where the children were born because after the divorce I was allowed to stay in this rented house. If we lose our house, I will also lose my children and that is obviously what no mother wants.

I try hard but I can't manage on my own. The relationship with my family has deteriorated because of this relationship so I can't ask them for help either.
