Good morning to all you kind people. My wife, our two children and I are living in a single room because our good fortune didn’t last long. I used to live with my wife at my grandmother’s house, but when she passed away, and then a year later my mother sadly passed away too, none of my siblings wanted to take on my parents’ flat because they all said they didn’t want anything to do with it, that it was a burdenI couldn’t understand it; as the eldest child, it actually made me sad to hear that. So, even though they were already planning to take the flat away, I decided to do something about it. I don’t earn enough to afford to bring the flat up to standard, but together with my wife and two children, aged 2 and 9, we decided we’d do something about it. I work on a building site so I know a bit about that, and that’s how it started. After work, and even at night, I did what I could there, until finally, after a year of saving and putting money aside, we managed to get the lower part of the flat ready – namely, a large room and a kitchen – so we could live there, because we had nowhere else to stay and had to move in somewhere. But our luck didn’t last long; after the downpours, the roof came off and all our work was literally under water. Now we’re living in a small room in this flat; we’ve covered it with plastic sheeting and are somehow trying to get back on our feet. I’m currently working 10–12 hours a day to try and repair this flat, but unfortunately I’m running out of strength, which is why I’m appealing to kind-hearted people for help.
