While Hungary’s official data estimates around **6,944 people** are homeless nationwide, representing **roughly 0.07%** of the population, the true number is likely higher. Many live in shelters, temporary housing, or on the streets, often without access to a warm meal or a kind word.
In our own community, the need is growing. Local shelters are stretched thin, and many individuals rely on daily food programs just to get by. That’s why we’re launching “A Place at the Table”—a grassroots fundraising initiative to provide **hot, nutritious meals** to those who need them most.
This isn’t just about food—it’s about dignity, compassion, and community. Because no one in Hódmezővásárhely should feel forgotten.
