We have the medics. We have the volunteers. We have people who need our help.

What we do not have is an ambulance. 🚑

Metro Med is a small volunteer medical association based in Silesia, southern Poland. Our team includes paramedics, healthcare workers and volunteers trained in first aid who give their free time to help people in need.

We already provide street medical outreach, first aid, humanitarian support, first aid education and winter support, including cooking and distributing hot meals, warm drinks, clothing and basic supplies to people in need during winter.

We currently travel in private cars and borrowed vehicles. This limits how much medical and rescue equipment we can carry, where we can go and how effectively we can work in the field.

Most of our day-to-day equipment is built up gradually through small grants, donations and community support. An ambulance is different: it is a single expense far beyond what we can cover through our normal fundraising.

Important: Metro Med is not a public emergency ambulance service and we do not respond to 112/ 999 / 911 emergency calls. We are a volunteer medical association providing outreach, first aid, humanitarian support and education.

OUR GOAL €35,000

Approx. $40,000 USD / £30,000 GBP / CHF 33,000 / 395,000 SEK

Our goal is to raise €35,000 to purchase and prepare a reliable used ambulance for Metro Med.

We will continue fundraising toward the full €35,000 goal even if we reach €15,000 earlier.

Around €15,000 is the minimum amount at which purchasing an older, basic used ambulance may become realistic if the campaign ends before we reach our full goal.

If the campaign ends with €15,000–€35,000, we will use the funds to purchase the best suitable used ambulance we can reasonably afford and prepare it for service.

If the amount raised is too low to make the purchase of a safe and suitable ambulance realistic, the funds will instead be used for life-saving medical and rescue equipment for Metro Med, such as AEDs, patient monitors, emergency medical bags, oxygen equipment, stretchers and other essential equipment.

Our priority remains the ambulance. The alternative use of funds applies only if purchasing a suitable ambulance is not realistically possible.

WHY AN AMBULANCE?

A dedicated ambulance would allow us to:

• carry medical and rescue equipment safely;
• reach more people and more locations;
• work from a dedicated mobile medical base;
• provide better coordinated medical support in the field;
• support street outreach and winter operations;
• take part in humanitarian relief and local emergency-support activities;
• provide medical support at community events;
• expand our first aid education and training.

An ambulance would not turn Metro Med into a public emergency service. It would give our volunteers a safe, dedicated and properly equipped vehicle for the work we already do.

WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL FUND

Funds raised through this campaign will be used for:

• the purchase of a used ambulance;
• essential repairs, servicing and preparation;
• insurance;
• necessary markings, setup and adaptation for Metro Med;
• essential medical and rescue equipment for the vehicle.

If we are able to purchase an ambulance for less than the total amount raised, the remaining funds will be used to equip, prepare, insure and operate the vehicle. If the campaign does not raise enough to purchase a safe and suitable ambulance, the funds will be used for life-saving medical and rescue equipment for Metro Med.

Metro Med is already active in our communities.

We already have the volunteers.

We already have trained medics.

We already help people in need.

We already work in the field.

The ambulance is the missing piece that would allow us to do this work more safely, reliably and independently.

AMBULANCE, EMS, FIRE & MEDICAL ORGANIZATIONS

If you represent an ambulance service, EMS agency, fire department, rescue team, hospital, clinic, medical supplier or other medical organization, financial support is not the only way you can help.

We also welcome donations of useful medical, rescue and training equipment, including AEDs, monitors, defibrillators, stretchers, medical bags, first aid supplies, bandages and training equipment.

Equipment that is no longer used for frontline work may still be extremely valuable for our training and education activities.
