Description
We are Silvia, Julio and a little one due in December.
We are here to ask for help in making a dream come true: to be able to give birth together in a birthing centre, in a peaceful, quiet place, free from external stimuli, with soft lighting and in tune with the rhythms of nature. We won’t be alone; there will be two midwives with us at all times, women with whom we will complete our pregnancy journey to build the confidence and trust needed to allow for maximum openness at the height of the birth.
In Italy, home births are still supported by only a few and partially reimbursed in only some regions (not in Veneto); the cost of the birth is €2,500, to which must be added the costs of midwifery visits, on-call services, meetings, postnatal visits and breastfeeding support (approximately a further €1,000).
We believe that every woman has the right to choose freely, without prejudice or financial barriers, the place and manner of her birth.
So why?
- We would like a non-medicalised birth, safe in the case of a normal pregnancy. We would not want surgical, pharmacological or verbal interventions that are not strictly necessary
- we would like to be together and have privacy and confidentiality: before, during and after the birth
- We would like access to a safe, familiar space and a birthing pool
- We would like to have female midwives by our side whom we know and who respect the natural rhythms of bringing a child into the world
- We would like to give birth in a place full of love and understanding
We do not need any further financial support for the upcoming birth; thanks to the community around us, we are receiving many things that are of great help. If you would like to make a donation, please help us to give birth at home.
