Tucked away in the foothills of the Balkan Mountains, Yalovo Village was once a bustling community before the fall of communism in Bulgaria. As agriculture declined, young people left for the cities, and Yalovo’s population dwindled to just eight residents. Yet the village still boasts breathtaking landscapes, centuries-old stone houses with wood-beamed roofs, and a cultural heritage waiting to be shared.

We fell in love with this place and painstakingly restored one of its traditional stone houses, transforming it into a luxurious yet authentic retreat: Yalovo Guesthouse. Our hope is to preserve the region’s charm and invite guests to experience the cozy comfort of home surrounded by Bulgaria’s rich history and natural beauty.

Positioned near some of the country’s most remarkable historical and cultural sites—like the majestic Tsarevets Fortress, the charming village of Arbanasi, the picturesque town of Bojentsi, and the nearby ancient Roman city of Nicopolis ad Istrum—Yalovo Guesthouse is your gateway to discovering Bulgaria’s vibrant past and scenic wonders. You’ll also find the impressive Dryanovo and Kilifarevo Monasteries, the Emen Canyon, and other hidden gems. Right in Yalovo itself, there’s a boutique winery producing exquisite wines from local ancient grape varieties.
