I’m reaching out to share the story of my beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Bijou. Bijou is not just a pet; she is a cherished member of our family, a bundle of joy who has brought love and laughter into our lives since the moment we brought her home. Her name, which means “jewel” in French, perfectly captures her sparkling personality and the immense love she has given us.

Recently, our world was turned upside down. Bijou, who is usually playful and full of energy, began to show signs of distress. At first, it was subtle—she would occasionally stumble or have difficulty jumping onto the couch. As the days went by, her condition worsened. She started to cry out in pain and became increasingly lethargic. It broke my heart to see her suffering, so I took her to the vet, where we received the devastating news: Bijou has a serious neurological condition that requires immediate surgery.

The diagnosis revealed that she has a spinal cord issue, which is affecting her mobility and causing her significant pain. The vet explained that without neurosurgery, Bijou may lose her ability to walk entirely, and the quality of her life would diminish drastically. As a devoted guardian to this little soul, I felt helpless and terrified at the thought of losing her.

The estimated cost of the neurosurgery is €4,500, a sum that feels impossible to raise on my own. The surgery will involve a complex procedure to relieve the pressure on her spinal cord and hopefully restore her mobility. Bijou is still so young—just 4 years old—and she deserves a chance to live a happy, healthy life.

Bijou has always been a source of comfort and joy for our family. She has a unique way of brightening our days with her silly antics, her playful barks, and the way she snuggles up to us when we’re feeling down. When I see her struggling to walk, it feels like a piece of my heart is breaking.

I remember one particular day when Bijou snuggled into my lap after a long day. She looked up at me with those big, soulful eyes, and I knew I had to fight for her. I promised her that I would do everything I could to give her the life she deserves. But I can’t do it alone—I need your help.
