Description
Leogang Bathhouse
“Accessible Playground”
For over 11 years now, the Leogang Bathhouse has been a charitable organisation. Through our work, we provide individual guidance and support to people with disabilities and those seeking help in a wide variety of situations – making things as accessible as possible.
We owe the fact that our services can be designed in this way and that marginalised groups and those seeking help can be supported to such an extent to the charitable fund “Leben lieben im Liebe leben” (in accordance with the Salzburg Provincial Foundation and Fund Act), which is affiliated with the centre, bears the seal of approval for donations and has been granted tax-deductible status.
The main focus at present is the construction of an accessible playground, for which the first phase of building work was already completed in winter 2023 (extension of the site, filling with reinforced earth, excavation and filling of the path for the accessible treehouse, etc.).
What makes this playground special is that truly ALL children have the opportunity to play together – regardless of their physical abilities.
The play equipment built in the first phase (a treehouse with a 7-metre diameter and a wheelchair access path, two wheelchair-accessible raised beds, two pavilions with seating and lounging areas) was designed, built and delivered by the final-year students at the Kuchl School of Wood Technology – the collaborative process, involving our staff, users and the students of the Kuchl School of Wood Technology was fantastic and opened up new perspectives not only for the students.
Current status: On 10 June 2024, the foundations for the required area were laid and the treehouse erected. What remains to be completed before the onset of winter is the roof, a fence, two further foundations, and the work involved in erecting the final two gazebos.
