Description
Dear friends, mates, acquaintances, family members,..
As many of you know, I’ve moved to beautiful, warm and sunny Tenerife.
But I want to start my own project here in the hospitality sector – a slightly less physically demanding job than in the construction industry, as my body isn’t up to it anymore.
The plan is to buy the vacant plot of land opposite our flat and set up a container bar there, as well as a small container for storage and one for a toilet. The reason for a container bar is that we have an abundance of passing tourists here on road bikes, motorbikes and in cars, all heading towards the Teide nature reserve, towards Masca, etc. There are a few local cafés here, but tourists aren’t usually inclined to stop for a drink or a bite to eat, which is why I’d like to call it La Tourista. I’ll also hang Belgian, Dutch, French, English and Spanish flags so that tourists can clearly see that several languages are spoken. Various well-known Belgian beers would be on offer, along with soft drinks, hot drinks, and small cold and hot snacks. I would also provide a small area for cycle tourists to park their bikes and hang them up so they can check them over, pump up tyres, etc.
The land would cost just under 2,500 euros, the container bar 3,500, and the two small containers 1,500 each, plus some site fittings such as a wooden fence, a bike rack, tables and chairs – but we can make these from wooden pallets to start with, so that isn’t a problem in itself. The site itself has a lovely view of the mountains, the sea, the island of La Gomera, and in the evening the sunset is beautiful to watch.
The reason I want to launch this crowdfunding campaign is as follows. As the standard of living and wages are much lower than in Belgium, it would take me a very long time to save up such a sum, and the aim is to be able to get started within six months, given the increase in tourists.
Of course, anyone who decides to sponsor me is always welcome for a bite to eat and a drink on the house as a thank you; or if there’s anything else we can do for one another, please do let me know.
Fingers crossed, and I hope with all my heart to be able to make something wonderful of this with your help, it would mean the world to me :)
Greetings from sunny Tenerife
