Description
It’s not easy to ask for help.
We’ve thought about it for a long time, with a mixture of modesty, hope and a little fear.
My partner and I have always shared a simple dream, but one that means the world to us:
to have a small house in the mountains, a place we can finally call ‘home’, where we can build stability, tranquillity and a future.
We imagine a simple place, perhaps a small farmhouse, surrounded by nature.
Not just as a space for us, but as a place that, over time, can also welcome others.
A dream within a dream, which perhaps one day might take shape, is to give a second chance to some animals rescued from difficult situations: donkeys, goats, a few horses or ponies – animals often forgotten, yet capable of forming a deep and gentle bond.
Donkeys, in particular, with their patient and sensitive nature, hold a special place in our imagination.
The idea is not to create something grand or structured, but a place of care and respect, which may, over time, also become a meeting place:
brief moments of pet therapy, simple activities with children or vulnerable people, and opportunities for genuine contact with nature and animals.
We know that all this requires time, resources and small steps.
But every project, before becoming a reality, begins with a place.
And today, that place does not yet exist for us.
Like many young couples in Italy, we work, we make sacrifices, we give up a lot.
Yet, despite our constant efforts, saving up a significant sum has become increasingly difficult: the cost of living is rising, contracts are precarious, and banks are closing doors that seemed like real possibilities only on paper.
We’ve tried several times, we’ve done our research, we’ve believed in it... but we’ve been rebuffed.
Watching this dream slip away has been painful.
Because it’s not a lack of will, but a lack of means.
We have no major family support or safety nets to fall back on.
We have only ourselves, our determination and our stubborn refusal to give up.
And that is why we are here.
We’re not asking anyone to sort out our lives.
We’re asking for a small gesture, even if only symbolic, to help us take one more step towards something that for us means stability, peace of mind and a future.
Every contribution, however small, is not just a donation:
it is a building block, a sign of trust, an outstretched hand reminding us that dreams, sometimes, can be shared.
If you decide to help us, please know that it will mean the world to us.
It really does.
Thank you, even just for reading our story. 🩵
