What if it's that easy? I just want to live my life.

What if it's that easy? I just want to live my life.

Description

I just want to live my life.

My life as an IT freelancer, as a "go to guy" for my friends and family, as a husband and friend to my wife.

Right now, I'm not really able to do any of this satisfactorily, because I have a dead end job in a office, starring at a screen for 8 hours.

But what if it's that easy?

What if it's that easy to ask for help, from someone who can really help me?

What if it's that easy to be a digital beggar, yes, I'm not afraid or ashamed to say this?

What if it's that easy to find some people with such a large heart, that they're willing to support others less fortunate?

Hello, my name is Paul.

I want to take my wife out to dinner, to take her on a vacation, to be able to live our lives.

This is not a trick, not a joke, not a cry for help.

So far, it's just a message from me to you. Let's see where we end up.

I was an IT freelancer for around 30 years, from about when I was 14 years old until late 2023. I also had a few other "regular" jobs, all IT related.

Life was good. :) Had spare time, made my own schedule, I was able to choose who I work with, had time for charity work (yes, I know I slipped that into the conversation, we'll circle back to it).

The pay was not always good, but I was never behind on my bills and basic shopping needs. Even managed to put aside something, for short holidays.

Then I lost my biggest and one of my best clients and had to get a "proper" job, in an office, in a factory.

Nothing wrong with that, it's just not my field of expertise and surely not my passion.

Also, all of a sudden, I have a fixed schedule, 8 hours/day at the office, starring at a screen mostly.

I'm not saying it's a toxic work environment, but it actually might be toxic for real (some paint fumes, amongst others).

And I'm behind on some of my bills, others just got more expensive than before.

I want to get back to a life of less stress, more time for me and my wife and my friends.

I can provide you with as many details as you need to verify it's not a scam: national ID, bills / accounts for direct payment, freelance website activity / history, charity work history.

I started using computers at age 9, around 1987, on a HC-85 (Romanian ZX Spectrum clone).

After a few years, I switched to PC and also began working, using WordStar to type documents for family and friends.

I joined RentACoder in 2005, as a programmer, had a great run until 2010. At that time, the site changed name to vWorker, I also expanded my range to include audio/video editing.

In 2012, Freelancer.com acquired vWorker and I managed to hang on for 3-4 more years, until their fees got a bit exagerated for me, compared to the offerings and the projects I landed.
