⚖️ Help a father defend his family against an injustice

I never thought I’d have to write these words one day.

It all began in2019, when a retired neighbour moved into our housing estate. He soon started picking on the local children, forbidding them from playing ball and becoming increasingly verbally aggressive.

One day inAugust 2020, whilst he was shouting at the children again, I simply went out to see what was going on and calm the situation down. He asked me to come towards him if I had a problem. When he raised his arms at me, I pushed him away to keep my distance... and he fell over.

Following this incident, he was grantedtwo days’ sick leave, then filed a complaint against me.

In criminal court, I’ve already receiveda warning and 12 months’ probation.

But the story didn’t end there.

Two years later, he sued me incivil court. Afternearly four years of proceedings, the court ordered me to pay him€15,332.

Throughout this whole affair,the fact that I was trying to protect the children in the neighbourhood was never taken into account.

No blows were struck. Yet today, it is my family who must pay the price.

To defend myself, I have already spentover €6,000 on legal fees –my entire savings.

My neighbours even wrote letters to testify to this man’s behaviour... but it made no difference.

Today, I find myselfemotionally and financially exhausted.

I’m justa dad who wanted to stand up for his children.
