Stray Cat Neutering - Nafplio
Stray Cat Neutering - Nafplio
What will you fundraise for today?
Description
Me, Rodrigo Gibson, and my wife are cat lovers, and here where we live, in Greece, stray cats are a tad too many, and for many locals they are considered vermin, and they are even poisoned, which is a nasty and cruel way to cull unwanted animals.
As a way to help curb the population, at least of our street, we plan to neuter some 8 cats, 6 of which are part of a litter which will be 6 months old (earliest age for spaying) in mid December 2024.
I've also been trying to befriend the local stud/tomcat, who fathered the aforementioned litter, to see if I can catch him and neuter him too.
We also have 2 other kittens who were dumped here in our street and we are raising until we can neuter them and hopefully find them a loving home. These last 2 kittens are still about 3-4 months old, so their neutering turn will have to wait a few more weeks.
The local vet offers 50% discount on performing any surgery on stray cats, so long as we bring them over to him. Regular neutering price for males is 70EUR, and for female is 100EUR. We are planning on neutering about 8 cats, some male, some female, so we estimate the cost to be around the 350-400 EUR mark.
Once the cats are spayed, we'll be hopefully finding homes for them, or simply release them to the streets and keep feeding them, but at least we will have contributed to the reduction in the future cat population proliferation, at least in our neighbourhood.

Thank you very much for your contribution.
