Description
Dear friends, acquaintances, and kind-hearted people,
My name is Gábor, I’m 44 years old, currently studying to become an auto mechanic, and my partner is 30 years old and actively looking for a job. We are facing an extremely difficult situation after a series of devastating family tragedies over the past two years.
In February 2023, we lost my beloved stepfather to pancreatic cancer. A few months later, in July 2023, my brother passed away after battling prostate cancer for over 10 years. Although he had surgery years ago, the cancer returned two years ago, and sadly, he could not overcome it.
After my stepfather’s death, all of our time was devoted to taking care of my mother. She suffered from severe dementia, which completely took away her independence and slowly destroyed her mental faculties. Together with my partner, we cared for her at home for over a year. It was a relentless disease that left us little time for rest or peace.
Eventually, on the doctors' recommendation, she had to be admitted to a hospital where she could receive 24-hour supervision. Unfortunately, she caught pneumonia there and passed away in December 2024, just days before her 87th birthday.
What made our pain even worse was that after my brother’s death, his widow tried to keep his passing a secret from the family and even refused to allow our mother to attend his funeral. In the end, the family home — where we were born, raised, and lived our whole lives — came into her possession. And now, without hesitation or compassion, she has informed us that we must leave within three months, or she will have us legally evicted.
Our income is almost non-existent. I am doing my best as a student, and my partner applies for every possible job but has had no success so far. We are raising funds for housing, a rental deposit, and the most basic living expenses so we don’t end up on the streets.
Every little help means the world to us and gives us hope in this hopeless situation. We are deeply grateful for any donation, share, or kind word. Even if you cannot donate, please consider sharing our campaign — sometimes a single share can reach the right person who might be able to help.
While we have little to offer in return, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and creativity in any way we can. My partner is very talented at crocheting, and we would love to send a small handmade gift and a personal thank-you message to every kind-hearted person who supports us in any way.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. If you can help, or even just share our campaign, it would mean everything to us.
