The Dărăscu-Enigărescu Castle, now a historical monument, was built between 1890-1910, on the northwestern peak of the Târgoviște hills, on the access road to the Viforâta Monastery in Dâmbovița County.
The Dărăscu-Enigărescu Castle in Viforâta, with 11 rooms and two bathrooms, built between 1890-1910, was built on the northwestern peak of the Târgoviște hills, on the access road to the Viforâta Monastery, being completed at the command of the Dărăscu family in 1910, over 20 years after the start of construction.
With a hazy history, the property would escape nationalization, even though it was at one point the headquarters of the local CAP, becoming the property of Octav Enigărescu in the period 1975-1977.
A personality of vast culture, baritone, radio personality, actor, singing teacher and director of the Bucharest Opera (1969-1971), Octav Enigărescu immediately appreciated the architectural qualities of the small castle.
Arranged on a terraced structure, the construction rises on two levels, also presenting a high cellar that runs along the entire footprint of the building.
The central point of the residence is indisputably the shape of the central tower, which recalls the typology of the medieval donjon, the structure of the rooms being thus influenced by the circular shape.
The building was consolidated by reinforcing the structure with steel beams, during the year 1988.
