Description
The Romanian Transplant Association (ATR) – the only NGO in Romania that brings together and represents transplant patients and those in need of a transplant (regardless of the type of transplant), as well as patients on dialysis; it has had legal personality since 1996 and operates nationwide. The association is run on a voluntary basis by its members. The organisation works to improve the quality of life of the patients it represents (access to appropriate treatment, safe and high-quality medical services; access to social protection, and the defence of rights arising from chronic illness), to develop transplant services (donation campaigns, promotion of transplant outcomes), and to provide information and guidance for patients on dialysis and those in need of a transplant.
