Hello,

I’m reaching out because I don’t know what else to do. I’m 34 years old and had major back surgery in 2018; since then, I’ve been suffering from constant pain. Because of the operation, I’m now on a disability pension. On top of that, my wife was in a serious car accident last year and has been on sick pay ever since. We have a son and a dog who give us a great deal of strength to keep fighting. However, we are now facing all sorts of problems in our flat. The windows are draughty, the heating doesn’t work properly and mould is starting to grow, yet the landlord is doing nothing about it. Unfortunately, we can’t find a new flat because all the landlords say the financial situation is too uncertain or that they have something against children or pets. To break out of this cycle, we wanted to buy a house. However, the bank says it’s not possible on a pension, even though they can see we’d have enough money for the mortgage payments.

We’d have a house of our own, but we’re €101,000 short, and we’re worried about our health.

It would be lovely if people could help us make a fresh start.
