Hi, my name is Fabio Bernini, and if you think I’m a bit of a fool, I’m afraid I have to admit that I have been.

At a time when my work had almost dried up – I’m self-employed, so if I don’t work, I don’t earn – I was trying to scrape together some money to take my children to the seaside.

As luck would have it, I was contacted about an ‘online job’ on WhatsApp. By several people at the same time. Unfortunately, they were all online scams.

After losing what little I had, I let myself be overcome by despair and, in an attempt to recover, I fell for the scammers’ tricks.

First I started asking friends for loans and then, even worse, I involved my clients, again asking them for loans. All of them were people of modest means, to whom I caused harm and suffering.

It wouldn’t be enough to work for 10 years to pay back the sums they lent me, which amount to €13,000.

Yes, that’s how stupidly I managed to get myself ripped off.

I have launched this campaign in the hope that people will show kindness and that I can repay all the money to the poor people who, with great kindness and trust, lent it to me. I don’t know where else to turn, and all of this is very humiliating.
