Description
School forests will be established on land owned by private forest owners. An association will be formed to bring together forest owners, primary schools and, where appropriate, professional forest managers and forest educators, who will look after the relevant primary schools that express an interest in having their own School Forest. Funds will be allocated to cover the costs of forest educators, the purchase of teaching aids, and other expenses associated with innovative forest-based learning. Each school forest will be marked with a sign indicating the organisation or primary school responsible for its care. All activities will be reported in the press, and the establishment of school forests will also be featured on public television to promote the initiative to other schools. Information will also be disseminated through the Department of Education, and the state-owned enterprise Lesy České republiky, the state-owned military forests, or the National Forestry Institute will be approached at the district level. This initiative will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education. The estimated total costs of up to €5,000 per school forest will be properly recorded in a transparent account, where individual cost items will be clearly shown. Sponsors who contribute most to the sponsorship of this activity may receive a tax receipt and will, of course, be invited to the day the first school forest is established.
