Description
The AK Napoleon megacrew is a dance group of 40 people from Budapest.
Every year they tell a strong message, story or social critique.
With these shows, they have been competing, for almost 10 years now, in the World Of Dance American Dance Federation competitions, which are attended by the best hip hop and contemporary dancers in the world.
Napoleon megacrew's most recent achievements include
In 2023 in Berlin and in 2024 in Krakow (with a record score) they achieved the honorable 1st place and Best Theme special award in this very prestigious and high quality event.
Thus, they have been awarded the right to represent Hungary for the first time in the history of our country as a Hungarian school group at the World Of Dance USA finals in Los Angeles.
The group includes dancers of all ages from 14 to 43, many of them professional dancers, but over the years there have been several who have made their living in non-dance professions. As you could hear in an interview on Kossuth Radio, this group includes people of different ages, weights, skin colours, family backgrounds and professions (psychologist, barista, marketing, pastry shop owner, student, shop assistant, lawyer, hairdresser, etc.), so we believe they could represent our country.
Their leader is Barbara Börczi, who has been trying for 20 years to bring an artistic message into the sometimes cold, sometimes competitive world of hiphop, with great success lately.
Fundraising is not the group's strong point, so far they have managed everything on their own without a sponsor, but as a trip to the US is expensive and many are still students or supporting themselves and their families on their own - they turn to the public for help.
If you like what AK is doing, or if you think it's important for a Hungarian team to come to the USA for World Of Dance, the first time in the history of Hungarian hip hop, and with a 44-piece line-up, we thank you for your donation 🤍
