Hello Dear All!

I'm Eszter Palkovits, a second-year student of Film and Television Directing at ELTE. With this fundraiser I am trying to cover the costs of my exam film, even if only partially. Unfortunately, besides my wonderful teachers and the complex education, our university cannot support the production of the exam films, so the plethora of creative solutions and the many compromises can only get us to the shooting.

But what am I saving for?

A film shoot has a real cost beyond the sweat drops, which can be reduced by a lot of favours and friendly/professional cooperation, but not entirely.

• Equipment hire - camera, lighting and sound
• Venue expenses - rent
• Transport - transport of crew, actors and equipment
• Catering - it's cardinal to at least return the favour
• other costs: props, equipment, costumes, etc.

There are many other things that can be added, of course...:)

14 days holiday - synopsis

Janka (22) and Gergő (28) turn their relationship into a battlefield on the first day of their holiday. An innocent, light-hearted role-play turns them completely inside out: Janka, on a whim, initiates a role-play: she becomes the shamelessly flirtatious hitchhiker, Gergő the conquering driver who picks her up. They're both in it together. At the beginning of the film, the inequalities between the young couple, whom the viewer believes to be nice, become more and more pronounced and they grow further and further apart.

Gradually, they fall under the influence of the game and the experiment slowly takes on a life of its own: the roles they have assumed become confused with their real selves, and they almost don't know themselves.

The constant tension in the course of the sequence of events, which unfolds in just a few hours, is the alternating flare-ups of jealousy and attempts to escape from the roles. Gergő grows increasingly angry ather for how easily she fits into the role of the frivolous woman, and Janka enjoys the exceptional attention terribly. The conversation is getting vulgar, and Janka is provoking more and more. The viewer agrees with Janka or with Gergő, so that in the evenly balanced game, he does not know whose side to take. The romance fiasco takes a detour from the original setting and culminates in a country boarding house, where Gergő falls for Janka with questionable passion.

They lose their way on the road to self-discovery and it becomes unclear what they really need and desire. Both Janka and Gergő are disappointed in the other, and even more so in themselves. It becomes apparent that the characters they are playing are their true selves, without disguise or pretense.

Behind the initial light-hearted tone of the 15-20 minute short film and the playfulness of the characters, the deep drama and the inevitable bitter realisation of the inevitable is revealed.
