Fundraising for WOSP
What will you fundraise for today?
Description
We are a proud organiser of WOSP Melbourne. We would like to invite you to join us in supporting the 33rd Grand Finale of The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOSP in Polish), which will take place on Sunday, 26 January 2025, at the Polish Club Albion in Melbourne.
This year, under the theme "Kids, Stay Safe and Sound," the Grand Finale is
dedicated to supporting pediatric oncology and related hematological
conditions. Cancer remains the second leading cause of death among children in
Poland, with around 1,100 new diagnoses annually. With your help, we aim to
raise funds for cutting-edge diagnostic and surgical equipment that will transform
treatment outcomes for young patients and support hospices caring for children
with complex needs.
Since its inception in 1993, WOSP has raised over PLN 1.75 billion to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment for hospitals across Poland. Among its many achievements, the foundation has funded lifesaving tools for neonatal care, pediatric oncology, and elderly care. Over 1,005 pieces of medical equipment for oncology alone, valued at PLN 107.8 million, have been donated. Major contributions include Poland’s first digital PET-CT scanner dedicated to children, delivered in 2022, which has revolutionized cancer diagnostics.
In Melbourne, WOSP has been embraced as a vibrant annual event, drawing 400
to 500 attendees from the Polish and broader communities. Beyond its charitable
mission, it showcases Polish culture, traditions, and culinary delights, fostering
inclusivity and unity among diverse groups.
The theme for the 33rd Grand Finale is "Kids, Stay Safe and Sound," and we
believe that, with your support, we can create a brighter, healthier future for
children battling serious illnesses.
