Description
This fundraising initiative was launched in response to the failed psychologist’s allowance scheme and is aimed at those who need it most.
My name is Dr Rivera Garcia Andres, a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, and, like other colleagues, I have decided to make a small personal contribution to help those who are going through a particularly difficult time or need immediate support.
I invite you to donate an amount that you can comfortably spare and to allocate it to this fund, which will be distributed monthly to those who have not been successful in their application for the psychologist’s bonus but still wish to embark on their journey.
This is a first attempt, so I ask for your patience and understanding, perhaps to overlook the rough edges of the fund’s structure, which will be divided as follows:
For every €200, one person will be entitled to 10 psychotherapy sessions (equivalent to two and a half months of therapy, based on the standard of one session per week), during which there will certainly not be enough time to get to the heart of the matter, but which are sufficient to ensure a gradual alleviation of symptoms and certainly greater clarity regarding one’s life.
How will these people be selected? To avoid any unpleasant misunderstandings, those interested must demonstrate, as they see fit, their genuine inability to cover the costs of psychotherapy. Anyone who objectively – and I ask you to forgive this bluntness regarding the financial aspect – demonstrates their inability to pay will be warmly welcomed into this online listening space. Obviously, this sad ‘ranking’ – which affects the majority of our country’s citizens – will start from the bottom and work its way up.
All that remains for me to do is to thank in advance all those who wish to join this initiative, in the hope that it will truly be as successful as I hope it will be.
Mental health care is not second-class care.
