My name is Aleksander, i am a 23 yo student of Cultural Studies of the Mediterranean Civilization at the University of Warsaw. From among all of regions of the Mediterranean, my heart has been conquered by the small archipelago just 80 km south of Sicily - Malta. Ever since i have first visited it when i was 14, it has been enticing me in various ways, not allowing me to forget my experiences there. When I was 20, i enrolled into University of Warsaw to follow my Maltese dreams, studying the isles from all perspectives imaginable, from language, to history and culture, under academic care of multiple dear professors from many different fields. My goal is to bring and accommodate Maltese Studies in Poland, as well as to become the first sworn translator of the Maltese language in the country.

Right now i am in the process of writing my bachelor's thesis about a historical alphabet of Maltese, based on Mikiel Anton Vassalli's works, but i have stumbled upon a multitude of issues - the resources for the research of Melitensia, most importantly books, are absolutely out of reach outside of the islands. This also causes them to be astonishingly expensive at times, exceeding my most wishful financial capabilities, which renders me unable to expand my knowledge and develop my research in Malta's history, language and culture.

Until now, for over a year i have been spending all of my savings on ultra short trips to the islands, spent on staying all day in the National Library in Valletta, while scouring through the catalogues and taking erratic notes on whatever i could find. It was all to make my research possible and passion for knowledge fulfilled, and which allowed me to even attempt writing my thesis on the topic that i love. As for now, i would love to continue my research efforts and to educate myself further, by taking language courses, acquiring literature and taking part in conferences - but i unfortunately can't afford those anymore.

Thus, i would like to kindly ask for any support possible, for me to be able to continue on my way to fulfill my scientific passions and one day be able to bring this love to my country.
