👋 Hi! I’m Olivia Blanchard, a Caribbean-born researcher and doctoral student in innovation ecosystems based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Growing up on a small island in an even smaller town, I never would have imagined that one day I would have the opportunity to move to the U.S. and attend a prestigious university. Yet this day has come, and I cannot miss out on this opportunity.

I’ve been awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Schuman Scholarship to pursue an eight-month research stay in the United States in 2026 as part of my doctoral studies in International Business Management at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business.

My work examines how geography, political history, and culture intersect to influence entrepreneurship, regional innovation, and development, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. The aim of this research is to positively impact European policy on entrepreneurial education and support for small, innovative businesses, ultimately leading to improved lives for everyone and enhanced European competitiveness.

This Fulbright is a huge step forward in my academic and professional journey. It acknowledges the importance of my research and the merit of my work thus far. But I need YOUR help to take this step.

While the Fulbright-Schuman grant offers a stipend, the reality is that eight months of living and researching in the U.S. costs significantly more, especially in cities where research institutions are based.
