Knihulínek isn’t just a character. He’s a little light that shines in a child’s heart every time they pick up a book.

At a time when children are spending more and more time in front of screens, we need something – or rather someone – to remind them that stories have the power to change lives.

And that is precisely why Knihulínek was created.

Knihulínek will visit every primary school, where he will personally present a book to Year 1 pupils who have learnt to read. He will also be part of all pre-literacy activities in nurseries, where books from the Advent-Orion publishing house are used – books that foster positive emotions, kindness and a child’s character.

In the autumn, there will be a public launch of Knihulínek in the village of Čečelice in the Mělník region, where Knihulínek will symbolically be ‘born’.

And that’s not all.

Knihulínek already has programmes prepared for children in hospitals and short sessions for children with severe intellectual disabilities. Because every child – without exception – deserves a light that awakens joy and imagination within them.

For Knihulínek to truly come to life, we need to finish his puppet.

The final step is missing: a little light on his tummy that lights up whenever a child reaches for a book or listens to a story.

It is a symbol – but for the children, it is a miracle.

The funds raised will also be used to produce soft toy Knihulínci for all nursery schools in the Czech Republic.

They will come in three sizes – small, medium and large – depending on how children gradually grow in their relationship with books:

• the small Knihulínek – when children begin to discover the world of books,
• medium Knihulínek – when they start to fall in love with books,
• a large Knihulínek – when they already love books and create pictures based on them.

And when a nursery reaches the ‘large Knihulínek’ stage, it can invite a live Knihulínek – a puppet – to personally present a book to the children.

All Knihulínek activities are provided free of charge.

The project organiser covers all costs for transport, materials and the time spent with the children.

That is why we are asking for your support – so that Knihulínek can reach every school, nursery, hospital and the children who need it most.

When a nursery reaches the “large Knihulínek level”, they can invite the real Knihulínek puppet to personally give children a book.
