Description
Project Amachay: A Bridge for Sierra Nevada - From Education to Safety
Project Amachay is not just a project; it is a promise. A promise to the communities in the Sierra Nevada of Colombia who welcomed me as one of their own. My studies in ethnology and years of living with the Kogi people have taught me that protecting the "Heart of the World" begins with its people. Today, it’s no longer just about observing, it’s about providing direct support to the guardians of our planet and the local families who stand by them.
Your support today goes into four key pillars that together change the reality on the ground:
Our main goal is to build a center that will serve as a space for international cultural exchange. Volunteers from all over the world will bring knowledge in technology and languages, while the Kogi youth will teach them about nature conservation and the ancient wisdom of the Sierra. It is a place where the modern world meets tradition with total respect.
We provide direct help to local Colombian families who have been my pillars of support but are now facing difficult times. My friend Luz Dari and her family are going through a major trial—her husband can no longer work as a fisherman after a severe car accident. Part of the fund will be used to ensure they have dignified living conditions and a safe environment to recover and thrive.
The Sierra Nevada is often a place of tension due to the presence of illegal armed groups. We support indigenous communities living in these conflict zones, helping them face the challenges of illegal confrontations and territory incursions. By providing computer equipment and communication tools, we empower Kogi leaders to document their situation, defend their rights, and stay connected with the outside world for their own safety.
Providing direct aid in remote mountains requires a constant presence on the ground. Approximately 15–20% of the funds raised covers logistics, flight costs, transporting materials, and project coordination. This ensures that every euro and every dollar ends up exactly where it is needed, under my personal supervision.
Who are the Kogi? Descendants of the ancient Tairona civilization, guardians of the spiritual balance of the Earth. They call us "Younger Brothers" and warn us about the destruction of nature. Project Amachay is a way to listen to them and give back for their hospitality.
Your contributions are the bridge. Thank you for building a path toward a better future for Sierra Nevada with us. Every contribution helps protect wisdom and lives that could otherwise vanish without our help.
