Who is organising the campaign?

My name is Tomas and I decided to organise this campaign because the injustice my friend experienced cannot go unnoticed. I have known him for years and I know that he is an honest man, a loving father of two children, who simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When he told me what he went through - from being detained without explanation, to a humiliating search on the street, to long hours of uncertainty with no way to call his family or lawyer - I knew I couldn't stay silent.

Who are we going to help?

It was a day like any other. My friend, a father of two, got into his friend's car. He had no idea that this man was involved in drug crime. He had no idea that he was about to be in a situation that would destroy his life.

The police patrol stopped the car. It turned out that there was a search warrant for the driver and a search of the vehicle. My friend asked what was going on, but no one explained anything to him. Just a brusque tone: "Turn around to the car, hands on the roof."

He stood there in the cold and drizzle, wearing only his summer clothes. He waited for over an hour before the investigator arrived. Again he asked what was going on, if he could get his personal belongings out of the car. The answer was no. He wanted to call his family, he wanted an attorney. He was not allowed to do either.

Meanwhile, the police searched the vehicle and found drugs on the driver. My friend had nothing to do with it, but they took him aside anyway and told him he would be subjected to a body search. Again, he demanded a lawyer. Again he was denied. "You have to put up with it," they told him.

And so they did. In a roadside parking area where strange cars could pass, they forced him to strip naked. A humiliating inspection in the shivering cold. Then they handcuffed him and took him to the police department.

There he waited for another two hours. For more than five hours in total, he didn't know what was going on, why he was actually being detained. He was neither given a drink nor allowed to go to the toilet. Only after all this did he finally learn that he was a suspect.

Although he had no knowledge that his acquaintance was involved in drug crime, although he had nothing to do with it, his life changed forever that night. His family broke up, his neighborhood began to judge him, and he was left alone - with feelings of injustice, shame, and insecurity.

One car ride. Five hours of waiting in uncertainty. Humiliating treatment. And an accusation that robbed him of everything.

Why this collection is important

His story struck me deeply - an innocent man was subjected to humiliating treatment, psychological coercion and violations of his basic human rights. As the father of a family, he now faces not only personal trauma, but also the breakdown of family relationships and the loss of social contact.

I cannot and will not remain silent when I see how injustice is destroying the life of a good man. That is why I ask for your support, be it financial or moral. Together we can help right the wrongs and show that we stand together when it comes to justice and human dignity.
