Your support for our school project in Kinshasa for street children (the underprivileged) Ladies and Gentlemen

We are members of the support association for the non-governmental organisation <Hope for Congolese Youth> e.V. We are active in development cooperation and campaign for... equal opportunities in education and access to social life for children and young people, particularly in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We have been registered in the register of associations as a non-profit organisation since 2022. In accordance with our legal obligations, we are recognised as a non-profit organisation by the Leverkusen tax office and are authorised to issue donation receipts.

We are currently working on a project aimed at increasing and facilitating access to education. In Kinshasa, we are building a school complex for primary and secondary school pupils, as well as a nursery school. The main target group consists of children in difficult social circumstances, such as orphans or street children, who would otherwise be unable to attend school. The complex will comprise several functional areas, including dormitories, craft rooms, computer rooms, conference rooms, a canteen, a library and, of course, classrooms. The building will therefore serve not only as a school but also as a hub for children and young people. It can accommodate up to 4,000 children. Construction is currently underway. Following an intensive planning phase, work began in May 2022. The foundations have already been laid and we hope to complete construction within two years.

We are a team of eight people from Germany and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, comprising those responsible for planning in Germany and the workers on site.

So far, the project has been largely funded by donations and relies on volunteers. However, for the project to be a success, we need financial support to offer children and young people a place where they can not only learn, but also build confidence and experience democratic values.
