Hello, we are Michaela and Dragos, Karin’s parents. We recently learnt that our precious little boy, Karin, has been diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and a hole in his heart. Put simply, half of his heart hasn’t developed as it should have. As a result, Karin will need three major operations in the first few years of his life, the first of which is scheduled for the very first week.

With this in mind, we’ve decided to forego a traditional baby shower and have instead set up this fundraising campaign to help cover the unexpected costs caused by Karin’s condition. HLHS is an incredibly rare heart defect, affecting approximately 1 in 4,000 babies, which makes Karin a very special little boy. Although we don’t know exactly what the future holds for him, we’re doing everything we can to be prepared for whatever lies ahead.

We are asking for your support, whether through donations or simply by keeping Karin in your thoughts and prayers. Your generosity will help us cover essential baby supplies, such as nappies, clothes and other necessities, whilst we focus on Karin’s care and treatment. Also, God forbid any unfortunate events should occur. The funds will also help us with unforeseen medical costs, such as co-payments for medication and any other expenses that may arise during this difficult time.
