Budapest Pride participant fine

Budapest Pride participant fine

Description

As you might heard it in the news, the Hungarian government introduced a bill on Monday (March 17) to control the right to peaceful assembly (a basic human right) and the parliament accepted it within 24 hours. The votes were 136 yes to 27 no. By the next morning, the President has signed the bill. In consequence, the Pride march will be banned in Budapest and participants will be detected by the government through AI face-recognition (which is banned by the EU by the way) and get a fine of €500.

I have decided to ask for support from my international queer siblings to ensure that I can participate in the now illegal Pride march and represent a force of resistance. I am a student with a part-time job, my monthly income is about €700, so I will not be able to pay this fine otherwise. I have always been an activist and has always raised my voice loud and clear for the LGBTQIA+ community and our issues. Pride is something that is extremely important for me, but probably this Pride matters the most in regards of politics. This Pride needs to be huge, loud and much like a riot. There’s very little to celebrate right now about being queer, but let’s hope, we can be heard all across Europe.

If you can contribute, it would mean a lot to me. And I’m pretty sure to end up in the news (somehow I always do), and I will be reading the names who helped me in the crowdfunding.

Thank you in advance! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
