Together with Evvu on her road to recovery

This is Evelin — Evvu to the people close to her.

Evvu is a strong, independent mother of two with a quick and sometimes very dark sense of humour. She is used to taking care of herself, her children, her home, her dog and two cats — and usually finding a practical solution to whatever comes her way.

On 7 August 2026, an ordinary Friday at work changed everything.

Both of Evvu’s hands were caught in a machine and severely injured. X-rays showed multiple fractures in both hands — ten fracture areas altogether, several of them displaced or fragmented.

On 11 August, Evvu underwent a long operation. Several fractures were stabilised with wires, plates and screws. The surgery was only the beginning.

Right now, both hands are heavily supported and their use is extremely limited. Even simple everyday things such as eating, dressing, washing, using a phone, preparing food or taking care of the home can require help.

Doctors have told Evvu that recovery will be a long process. Hand therapy, rehabilitation and gradually rebuilding movement and strength may continue for a long time.

For someone who has always been used to doing everything herself, one of the biggest challenges now is learning to accept help from others.

What will the support be used for?

The exact needs will become clearer as Evvu recovers, but support may be needed for:

* personal and home assistance;

* hand therapy, physiotherapy and additional rehabilitation;

* transport to medical appointments and therapy;

* assistive devices and practical home adaptations;

* cleaning, meals and other everyday help;

* support with the home, garden and pets;

* other costs directly connected to her recovery and daily independence.

Where possible, available public services, insurance and other existing support will be used first. The funds raised here will help cover the real needs that remain.

Our current goal is €30,000. Recovery may take more than a year, so the actual needs can change along the way. We will keep the information updated as the situation becomes clearer.

More than a fundraiser

The goal is not simply to pay bills.

It is to give Evvu the best possible chance to concentrate on healing, access the help and rehabilitation she needs, return home safely to her children, and regain as much independence as possible.

Evvu does not want her children to become her caregivers. She wants to be home with them while making sure the responsibility for her personal care remains with adults and professional support where needed.

And despite everything, Evvu is still very much Evvu — joking about her new metal “jewellery”, her useless “jelly hands” and the six-pack she might eventually get from having to sit up without using her arms.

One step at a time.

Every donation, whether one-time or monthly, helps make that road a little easier.

Thank you for supporting Evvu. ❤️
