Description
Dear friends and kind people,
My name is Zvonimir. I am from Croatia, and I’m reaching out to ask for help in a moment when I have no other choice.
In 1991, a brutal war broke out in my country. I was involved as a civilian under mandatory service, helping our defense effort in any way I could. In March 1992, I was severely wounded in the knee. I developed osteomyelitis and sepsis, and for months my life hung by a thread. I was in a mild coma with constant high fever for almost four months. Thanks to skilled doctors and God's mercy, I survived.
But the road to recovery was long and painful. Over the years, I underwent several serious surgeries, and eventually a knee prosthesis was implanted. Because I could no longer work, I was placed in a disability pension — one that is extremely low and not enough to live on.
Later, I had to go through another knee replacement surgery when the first implant wore out. This one was much more complicated, with even more metal and a harder recovery. Walking is now very difficult. Another operation is expected in the coming year or two, and my overall health is seriously deteriorated.
I never thought I would end up in a situation where I would have to ask for help like this. It’s not easy to write these words, but the truth is: my income is far too small, and basic living expenses (food, rent, bills) are more than I can handle. The state does not offer adequate support to civilian victims of war, and I feel as though I’ve been forgotten.
I am not asking for much. Even a small monthly donation, if possible, would make a real difference in my life. Anything you give will help me cover medicine, food, and electricity. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for even reading my story.
May God bless you.
With gratitude,
Zvonimir
