I'm asking you to support Mariusz, a board member of the AON Foundation, who has been active for years on behalf of people with disabilities. Now he needs help himself - we are raising funds for his rehabilitation after his accident.

Mariusz has Cerebral Palsy and moves around in a wheelchair. In May he had an accident and broke his leg. How did this happen? This day would be difficult from the morning - Sunday, sleep-deprived, tired after the conference, we were in a hurry to attend the communion of our friends' daughter. Kids cranky, daughter close to panic that we'd be late. Finally, we are going. We are. Late but we are. After about 10 minutes I realise it's the wrong church! Quickly to the car! Mariusz, in order to get into the car, gets up from his wheelchair and moves with support to the passenger seat. Nerves are reaching their zenith. Add to that tiredness, shakiness and ... we fell over. Mariusz's shoe caught on his ankle and bang - his tibia broke. Spiral fracture, risk of surgery.

Fortunately, a good setting of the bone upon admission to hospital avoided surgery, but Mariusz was immobilised in bed for six months. This resulted in the loss of the effects of rehabilitation, thanks to which, at the age of 32, he started walking with a walker and leaning on the arms of another person.

To regain his former dexterity, Mariusz needs intensive exercise. Rehabilitation costs have risen considerably, plus swimming pool and gym costs. A rehabilitation trip is also needed, where Mariusz will train intensively for 10 days.

Mariusz requires assistance on a daily basis, without which he is unable to perform basic tasks such as making a meal, getting dressed, using the toilet, so the costs of the trip double. During therapy camps, he is assisted by his partner, with whom they are raising two children with disabilities.
