Raising money for our orphanage in Uganda.

Updates2

  • Hi everyone! A friend just sent me 350 EUR to support the cause, which I have donated in my name. This means that we are almost 10% of the way, and there's still a lot of time to go. I therefore reach out to each and every one of you and ask for your support in completing our mission and securing a permanent home for the children. Every cent counts! We will be forever grateful:)

    Best wishes,

    Arnþór

Description

Hi there. My name is Arnþór, and I am the head of the fundraising effort´s for Waiswa´s Beloved Children´s Home Uganda. I myself am from Iceland, and work as a caretaker for disabled people, but I have been working with Waiswa´s for a little under a year now, and have gotten pretty familiar with their operations.

Waiswa´s Beloved Children´s Home is an independent orphanage that operates in the Bugiri district in Uganda, around 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the capital, Kampala. It was founded in 2018 by people who themselves were raised as orphans, and they decided that they wanted to give back to the community. The institution is overseen by our chairman, Mugoya Juma, himself an orphan, and he has been working tirelessly to make sure that the children in his care receive proper nutrition, housing, and education. The name, Waiswa´s, is in honour of Mugoya´s former caretaker, and he thought it fitting to name his own institution in his honour.

Waiswa´s Beloved Children´s Home is facing financial difficulties, due in large part to our accommodation. We operate out of a rental property in Bugiri, and thus have to pay rent every month, money that could instead be used to pay for food, medicine and education for the 60 children that we have in our care.

Therefore, we have decided to take the next step and attempt to purchase the property on which we are situated. That way, we will no longer have to pay for rent every month, and can instead use the money on aforementioned things like food, education and medicine for the children. Our landlord has been looking to sell the property, and due to our work, he has decided to sell the property for 7000 USD, a very generous offer. We already have 1000 USD, so we need to raise 6000 dollars to be able to buy the property. We are therefore reaching out and asking for help in securing the money required to give the children a better and more hopeful future. Any amount will help, and your actions WILL have an impact on the lives of the 60 children in our care.

Our mission is to operate with the utmost transparency, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments.

With regards and thanks in advance,

Arnþór, Mugoya and company
