The situation of stray animals in Romania remains heartbreaking. While small steps have been made in recent years, the reality is that we are still far from solving this painful and deeply rooted issue. The vast majority of progress has come not from institutions, but from everyday people—people who simply couldn’t turn away from animals in need.

Despite countless appeals and protests, local authorities continue to ignore the crisis, with only a handful of exceptions. The responsibility has been unfairly left to individuals and volunteers—people with limited resources and no real power to create lasting change. It’s overwhelming, and it’s unsustainable.

I can’t walk past an animal in pain. I can’t pretend not to see the suffering. But compassion alone is not enough—we need action. We need prevention. And the most effective, humane solution is neutering.

My goal is to neuter 100 dogs in our village. This alone will prevent hundreds of future births into neglect and misery, and ease the burden on those already struggling to help the animals that are here now.

Each procedure costs around $50. I’m hoping to raise half of that—not just to fund this campaign, but to send a clear message to the authorities: the responsibility for solving this problem cannot fall on the public forever. We need their involvement, their funding, and their accountability.

This is more than a fundraising campaign—it’s a first step toward pressuring those in power to finally do their part.
