Good morning, my name is Anna, I am 51 years old and I have been suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS, for 9 years now. At present, I cannot move my arms and legs, so I am immobilised in bed and spend my days indoors, especially in winter because the cold makes me even more stiff. Only in summer do I have the chance to go out sometimes: I would love to go to the beach and swim, but unfortunately there are no beach aids dedicated to disabled people with advanced ALS except for beach chairs on which it is impossible for me, in my condition, to sit. A French company has created a beach chair that would be perfect, as it would allow me to lie down and not sit and would guarantee me stability thanks to the safety straps. Of course, like most aids of a certain type, the cost is high and not affordable for me, as I spend everything I have on assistance. It may seem like a futile request, but for someone who spends her days immobile in bed locked in a room, I assure you it is not.
