Good evening, my name is E. I was diagnosed with alarmingly high blood sugar levels last September (500, with normal levels at 180), which resulted in slow but aggressive damage to my eyes.It is likely that my eyes had been suffering damage for a long time without any symptoms, which only made the situation worse.

This battle began around this time last year. The support was heart-warming and we successfully completed 12 injections. In October, unfortunately, I suffered a haemorrhage, which set the treatment back and caused me considerable difficulty, particularly with my right eye. Three months later, the haemorrhage subsided and we performed laser treatment to cauterise 1,000 vessels in the right eye and 1,800 vessels in the left eye to reduce therisk of further bleeding. Unfortunately, there has now been a relapse. I am due to have more injections and, at a later stage, laser treatment

Fortunately, it is clear how effective the treatment has been so far, as despite the poor clinical condition of the inside of the eye at present, I am not experiencing any symptoms

I recently underwent a repeat laser treatment, which was successful (despite the procedure being painful and time-consuming).

The results of laser treatment become apparent after some time, and we usually see a build-up of new fluid, so further injections will be required in the near future

However, the long-term benefits are extremely helpful for the continuation of the treatment
