My name is Sandro Burelli, I’m 60 years old and was born and raised in Cagliari

Why am I here, in this group?

Before making my request, I feel I must explain myself.

Many people in Cagliari know me... partly because I’ve always been a very cheerful and sociable sort, and partly because of the profession I used to work in...

Until 2020, I was a chef... in Cagliari I worked at I Ginepri, La Marinella, I Principi di Dan and other restaurants... and I also worked abroad quite a lot.

At the start of 2021, I fell ill and was diagnosed with cancer... from that moment on, everything changed; treatment began and, consequently, the side effects set in. Since then, I haven’t worked. After the mandatory paperwork, I received a civil disability allowance for a year at 100% disability, amounting to €520...Subsequently, the commission reduced my disability rating to 85%, with a benefit of €343... From 1 January 2024, I was informed that I had received excess payments in 2023, so I now receive a monthly benefit of €274.

I use this money to pay my bills

I also receive the ADI, and with this help I can eat and look after myself within my means...

Now... I still have the will to live... to be able to fight this illness with peace of mind, and I would like to be able to work... to do a job that I can manage given the little energy I have... I certainly couldn’t handle working in restaurant kitchens...

So, after much thought... and consideration, I have made a decision:

I would like to open a business – a frozen food shop...

With the money I receive from my INPS pension – which is, moreover, the minimum – I cannot apply for a loan.

I’ve worked out the costs, and I already have contacts with suppliers all over the world for the best products at the best prices...

I have a business plan (the documentation proving the project’s viability)

I have already identified two or three premises that could be suitable for this shop

With this job, I could live comfortably and even reach retirement age by paying the contributions I’m missing.

What am I asking of you???

A donation of any amount starting from one euro... I know it sounds like heresy... nonsense... but I believe in it; I believe in good people, I believe in solidarity...

My request is a sort of ‘crowdfunding’ (for those who don’t know what that is… it’s asking for funds from people who believe in the idea or project, receiving in return something promised by the applicant)

To set up this business, I need to raise 50,000 euros.

You might be thinking: ‘If you were given just one euro, how long would it take you to reach that figure?’

As mentioned earlier, the amount is up to you... so you can contribute from one euro upwards...

and I have thought about how to repay everyone who supports my project.

I intend to cover one wall of the shop with the first and last names of everyone who has contributed... so a list would be created of all the donations made, and depending on the amount, the first and last names would be displayed in different sizes.

A mention would be made on the website of every person who has contributed to the launch of the project.

Everyone who donates any amount... would receive a membership card as an honorary member of the business, with discounts, promotions and events for purchasing products reserved exclusively for them.
