Description
This fundraiser is for the Romanian Transplant Association (ATR), which has formed a team of kidney, liver and heart transplant patients to participate in the Transplant Football World Cup 2024 in Cervia, Italy. For this reason, all funds raised will be transferred to the ATR account.
The project has three parts:
- Preparation for participation, which involve:
- Medical and fitness assessments.
- Personalised physical and technical training sessions for each player, under the supervision of medical and sports specialists.
- Counselling sessions and psychological support to ensure an optimal mental state before the competition.
- Team training sessions.
- Preparation of necessary equipment.
- Actual participation in the Cup:
- Team travelling and active participation in football competitions.
- Meetings with other national teams to promote exchange of experiences and solidarity among transplant patients.
- Post-Cup Player Recovery:
- Post-competition medical assessments to monitor players' health.
- Physical and psychological recovery sessions.
Background and Significance: The sporting event is designed as a tribute to the memory of organ donors and a celebration of life, emphasising the importance of organ donation and the positive impact it has on the lives of transplant recipients. By participating in this competition, the ATR team aims to inspire and encourage the wider community to support organ donation.
This project not only promotes health and recovery through sport, but also brings to the forefront the success stories of transplant patients, thus strengthening the bonds within the medical community and between transplant recipients and their supporters.
