A Mother’s Plea: Help My Baby Boyan Get the Medical Tests and Therapy He Needs to Start Living Fully
Hello,
My name is Suzana, and I’m the proud mother of five children. On December 22nd, 2023, my life changed forever when I gave birth to my twin boys, Boyan and Yoan. What should have been one of the happiest moments in my life turned into the beginning of a painful, ongoing battle for the life and health of one of my babies.
Boyan was born with a rare and serious condition known as Pierre Robin Sequence — a combination of facial abnormalities that cause severe difficulties with breathing, feeding, and speech. At just hours old, he began a long and uncertain medical journey.
Our Fight Begins
Since his birth, Boyan has been through a lot. He requires constant care and medical attention. Because of this, I had no choice but to leave our family business — a car transport company — to be by his side full-time. We used up all our savings to keep up with the growing medical bills and special needs, and in time I had to pawn the company’s main vehicle, our only source of income, to cover immediate costs.
Today, Boyan is stable, but far from healed. He needs at least two major surgeries in the near future:
One to close the cleft in his soft palate, which currently prevents him from speaking, eating, or even opening his mouth fully.
Another to reconstruct his underdeveloped left thumb, which at the moment has no grip function — a crucial issue for his development and independence.
Why We Need Help Now
Right now, Boyan’s mouth cannot open wide enough for doctors to safely perform the first surgery. This delay is critical. In order to understand why his jaw has limited movement, he needs to undergo several important medical examinations — none of which are covered by insurance.
These include:
Whole Genome Sequencing – to investigate any underlying genetic conditions.
Evaluation for Temporomandibular Joint Ankylosis – a condition where the jaw joint is fused or blocked.
Muscular and Neurological Assessments – to detect any issues with muscle tone, spasms, or related disorders.
Daily Speech Therapy – because of the cleft palate and extremely limited jaw movement, Boyan has not yet started to form words or sounds. His palate and tongue are very weak and require consistent therapy to avoid long-term developmental delays.
Every day that passes without therapy is a missed opportunity for Boyan to catch up. His soft palate and tongue are not being used properly, and that puts his ability to ever speak clearly at serious risk.
What We’re Asking For
To move forward, we urgently need to raise €10,000 (euros) to cover the costs of:
The required diagnostic tests,
Consultations with specialists,
Travel to and from the medical centers,
Initial sessions of therapy with a licensed speech-language pathologist.
We are not asking for comfort — just a fighting chance. A chance for Boyan to get the care he needs, to speak, to smile without pain, to grow and play like his siblings, and to someday live an independent life.
Why This Means So Much
As a mother, it is devastating to see my child unable to do something as simple as open his mouth, make a sound, or hold my finger with his hand. I want to give him the best chance to heal — and I want to rebuild the life we had before, so I can support all five of my children with dignity.
This campaign is not only about funding tests and therapy. It is about giving a child the opportunity to live a full life — to speak, to eat, to play, and to thrive. It is about giving a mother a way to rebuild her home and her hope.
How You Can Help
If you’ve read this far — thank you. Your time, attention, and compassion mean everything to me.
If you’re able to donate, no amount is too small. Every euro brings us closer to answers, to treatment, and to giving Boyan a real chance.
And if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this campaign with friends, groups, or communities that may be able to help. Your voice can bring ours to the people who can change our lives.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for believing in miracles — just like I do every single day.
With love,
Suzana.
