Updates2

  • Thank you!

The funds have been raised for my medical treatment in Germany, which is expected to begin at the end of the year, once the vaccines have been produced.

I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who contributed in any way, with any amount, to make this possible for me.

For days now, I’ve been thinking about how I can repay you, how I can somehow make up for all the care, attention and donations I’ve received from you over the past few weeks.

    I will find a way!

Description

In early August 2025, I was diagnosed with glioblastoma. It is an extremely aggressive brain tumour.

It all came to light when I started feeling increasingly dizzy, developed memory problems, and often found myself on the verge of fainting. Then, following a bout of illness, the diagnosis came, confirmed by a CT scan and later by a biopsy: grade 4 glioblastoma, which is the most aggressive form of malignant brain tumour.

I’ve had surgery and am in the hands of fantastic doctors. However, my prognosis depends on how successfully the tumour can be prevented from returning, which is unfortunately very common with this type of tumour. Even if the visible tumour is completely removed during surgery, there are often microscopic tumour cells that are not always visible on imaging scans, so they cannot be completely removed, meaning the tumour may grow again and return later. Glioblastoma cells divide extremely rapidly, which is why the disease often recurs, even if the surgery was successful.

As a result, the average survival time for the disease is 3–4 months without oncological treatment, and 10–15 months with conventional treatment (radiotherapy, chemotherapy). Traditionally used therapies (radiotherapy and chemotherapy) are rarely effective in the long term at completely destroying all remaining cancer cells. Furthermore, glioblastoma cells are often resistant to these therapies.

That said, hopefully my body will respond well to the conventional treatment (radiotherapy, chemotherapy) starting in September.

However, I want to fight for my recovery on several fronts!

A personalised vaccine for recovery!

A cancer clinic in Germany developed an immunotherapy procedure several years ago. The essence of this is that a peptide chain vaccine is produced specifically based on the tumour and the patient’s genetic characteristics, which ‘awakens’ the patient’s immune system through a so-called neoantigen-specific T-cell response to fight the cancer cells. This means that a personalised medicine or vaccine, specifically tailored to the patient’s own genetic profile, is produced with the same rigour and under the same manufacturing conditions as a commonly used medicine.

The treatment method used by the clinic, along with a detailed presentation of the results to date, has also been published in Nature magazine, the leading source of the most prominent scientific research. The significance of the procedure is demonstrated by the fact that the FDA, the US Food and Drug Administration, has already approved it.

Based on patient statistics to date, there is a 95% chance of survival for at least 32 months; however, given my age, the current stage of my illness, my other health parameters and the statistics to date, I have a good chance of being among those who have survived for 5 years.

Costs

The total cost of the treatment is approximately €98,000.

The therapy is a personalised treatment that is not covered by health insurance.

The costs include the following:

  1. Delivery of the tissue sample and fresh blood sample to the clinic.
  2. Preparation of the peptide chain forming the basis of the vaccine series. This takes 3–4 weeks.
  3. Production of the personalised vaccine. This takes 2.5–3.5 months. The total cost of developing and producing the serum is EUR 80,000
  4. Once the serum is ready, travel to Vilnius for a 4–5-day clinical vaccination treatment. The clinic in Vilnius works in close collaboration with the German clinic, and the vaccinations take place there.
  5. Over the next 1–1.5 years, I will need to travel to Vilnius for a total of 11 treatment sessions, where the immune response will be continuously monitored and, if necessary, the composition of the vaccine will be adjusted accordingly.

If you have any questions about the condition or the treatment, please feel free to get in touch!
