Hi! My name is Anne, 24.

I’m from Martinica, but I currently live in France.

It’s been four years since I last saw my family. I’ve been struggling financially for a long time. I work as a nanny and earn around 400€ a month. I live with my sister, and unfortunately, I simply can’t afford a plane ticket home.

I’ve always wanted to bring gifts to my family too, but I've never been able to because rent, bills, and survival always came first.

My mom misses me deeply ,she’s been begging me to visit for years. And recently, without telling me, she bought me a plane ticket because she couldn’t wait any longer.

When she told me, I was overwhelmed. The ticket cost 1,029€, and I felt guilty knowing she had to cover that, especially when we’re all financially stretched. I know she did it out of love and because I never would’ve asked her for help.

My family has always been modest, and with inflation and the rising cost of living, things have only gotten harder for us.

My island is gorgeous but life in Martinica is extremely expensive, especially when it comes to food. Even basic groceries can be a struggle to afford, and prices are much higher than what people often expect. That’s why I’d like to have a little financial cushion ,not to splurge, but just to be able to eat well and not be a burden during my visit.

I’ve been putting aside hobbies, wants, even basic needs for years to make ends meet. As much as I’m grateful for the trip, I’m missing a lot ;from proper shoes and luggage to clothes, skincare, and a safe way to bring my guitar (which means a secure travel case). I don’t even own a big suitcase.

I’d also love to have a bit of money to enjoy some simple things while I’m back home like food, outings, and maybe a night or two in a hotel. My whole family will be at my mom’s small apartment (we're 9 people total), and I want to give everyone a bit of space if possible.

In total, I’m hoping to raise around €6,135, which would cover:

• Clothes, shoes, skincare, and travel essentials
• A case for my guitar
• Food and outings in Martinica
• A short hotel stay to help ease the crowd at home

I know this is a big ask. But the truth is, I never get to treat myself, buy nice things, or feel comfortable. I always choose survival over self-care.

Being unable to give back to my mom and sisters, while they continue to help and support me, is something that weighs heavily on me. Sometimes I feel like I’ve failed them… like I have nothing to offer.

But I’m incredibly grateful for this chance to finally see my family again.

And that’s why I’m here, sharing my story, and hoping to find some help.
