Three young Lithuanian rugby players – Gabrielius Urbaitis, Adomas Rudzevičius and Tauras Mikelionis – have been given a unique opportunity to train and train and play rugby at Maritzburg College in the Republic of South Africa – a school renowned for its long-standing academic and rugby traditions.

This is more than just a trip to another country.

It is an opportunity for young Lithuanian athletes to develop every day in a high-level rugby environment, to learn from experienced coaches, to compete against strong players of their own age and to gain experience that could prove vital to their future sporting and personal journeys.

The first step – €5,000

The aim of this campaign is not to raise the entire amount needed for their trip straight away. We want to start with a realistic and concrete first stage.

The funds raised will help cover:

✈️ flights to South Africa;

🏫 part of the first month’s study and living costs;

📄 insurance, documents and other necessary formalities;

🏉 costs associated with preparation and the sports programme.

€5,000 is the first target. Not the last.

The lads’ studies and rugby journey in South Africa will continue for longer, so once the first stage has been reached, anyone wishing to do so can continue to contribute to their journey – by supporting other stages of the project or by choosing to provide ongoing support.

Every contribution counts

Whether it’s €5, €10, €20, €50 or more – every donation brings the lads one step closer to an opportunity that could have a huge impact on their future.

A single donation may not cover the full cost of a flight ticket or a month’s tuition, but when many people contribute even a small amount, together they can open up huge opportunities.

This project is also part of the wider vision of the Kaunas Rugby Academy – to create real international opportunities for talented young Lithuanian rugby players, regardless of the town or club where their journey began.

Today, Gabrielius, Adomas and Tauras are being given this opportunity.

We believe that tomorrow there will be even more young people like this in Lithuania.
