Description
Mango is only six years old, and all I dream for him is to run and play again without pain. He is my best friend, and it breaks my heart to watch him struggle to walk. He needs urgent hip surgery, and I cannot afford it alone. I’m asking for your help to give my sweet boy a chance to enjoy life again, chase his favourite ball, and live many more happy years.
❤️🐾
My name is Ksenia, and Mango means the world to me.
He was born deaf, but that has never stopped him from being a wonderful, happy companion. He is always by my side, he loves swimming in the water and playing ball 🥎 Mango and I still dream of seeing him run again, chasing his beloved ball without pain. Sadly, that future is now at risk.
What happened to Mango?
At the beginning of September 2026, Mango had an accident that injured both of his hind paws. He needed surgery on both paws, and one toe on his right paw had to be amputated. We hoped that, with time and treatment, he would recover. But after a month, his walking had not improved.
Further X-rays revealed a much bigger problem than expected. Mango has severe issues affecting his hips, joints, and spine, which is a genetic component we had not known about before. He has also been diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in both front wrists.
Mango needs urgent surgery on both hips to relieve the pain and allow him to walk again. A full hip replacement costs €12,000 and it is beyond what I could imagine so the vet suggested femoral head ostectomy (FHO), a more affordable surgical option recommended for his situation.
The first hip surgery is urgent, and we are trying to arrange it within the next two weeks. Recovery will also require veterinary monitoring, medication, additional tests, and months of physiotherapy.
Right now, Mango cannot walk for long on his own. It is heartbreaking to watch such a young, energetic dog struggle with something as basic as moving comfortably.
Why I need your help?
I am raising Mango on a single income, and the unexpected veterinary expenses have become more than I can manage alone. The emergency treatment and surgeries in September already cost nearly HUF 1 million (€2,700), exceeding my monthly salary. I have done everything I can to get him the care he needs, but the road ahead is longer and more expensive than I can face by myself.
Our current expense plan estimates a total of HUF 3,000,000 for the treatment and recovery period. This includes the planned hip surgeries, veterinary consultations and follow-up visits, diagnostic tests, medication, transportation, and physiotherapy. The estimate includes:
- HUF 600,000 for two hip surgeries,
- HUF 384,000 for physiotherapy, estimated at HUF 96,000 per month for four months.
- HUF 305,175 for an MRI, plus planned ultrasound, blood work, and pre-surgical tests.
- Additional funds for recurring veterinary visits, painkillers, joint supplements, other medication, orthopaedic equipment.
These are estimates based on the current treatment plan, and additional care may be needed depending on Mango’s progress and his veterinarians’ recommendations. I will share updates as his treatment develops and keep supporters informed about how the funds are used.
Please help Mango have a second chance
I know I cannot promise that Mango will return to exactly the way he was before, but I really want to give him the best possible chance of living with less pain. I wish for him to explore the world beside me without every step being a struggle. Most of all, I want him to have the chance to enjoy the years he still has ahead of him.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to that possibility. If you cannot donate, sharing Mango’s story with your friends, family, or community would mean just as much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for caring about Mango, and for helping me fight for his future. Your kindness could make a real difference in his life.
With all my gratitude,
Ksenia & Mango 🐾
Wishing our Mangito to get through this 🐾
