Hi, my name is Anna, and I’m a 31-year-old teacher living in Hungary. I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request for help to make my small house livable—just enough to be able to move in within the next few months. This is Phase 1, the bare minimum I need to create a safe and functioning home.

I come from a difficult beginning. My mother left my biological father, having nothing,to move in with my grandparents. After a few years mom met my loving stepdad we moved into council housing. Later, we managed to buy a run-down house in rural Hungary—because housing in our hometown of Arad was completely unaffordable.

Tragically, my dad had an accident that left him physically disabled, which led to overwhelming debt. My mom worked tirelessly to raise four children and hold the family together. I’ve had no financial backing as a young adult—every step I’ve taken has been through my own work and effort, and with the physical help of my parents where they can.

I work full-time as a teacher and also tutor English and Romanian to make ends meet. Most days I work from 8 AM to 8 PM. Despite the low salary, I stay in education because I truly love teaching—I live for that spark in a child’s eyes when they finally understand something.

I’ve been renovating a house I plan to move into soon—but currently only two rooms are usable, and the rest of the house is unfinished: bare brick walls, no insulation, no flooring, and a broken front door that lets the wind in.

I need to move in within 5–6 months, but I’ve run out of funds to finish even the basics. The costs of materials and loans are simply too high, and my boyfriend—who works 70 km away—sometimes barely earns enough to cover his fuel costs.

That’s why I’m asking for help to fund Phase 1: the absolute essentials to make the space livable.

This will allow me to finally move in, and focus on repaying my debts and saving for a future side business—a small sweet truck that I’ve been dreaming of for years.

If I’m able to complete this phase, I may later ask for help with Phase 2, which would involve finishing the kitchen, bathroom, and flooring for the rest of the home. But for now, my focus is simply to make the space livable and warm before winter.
